Greetings from the Executive Director
Louisville’s International Festival of Film has truly become what we envisioned, international. We are celebrating films from Denmark, Lithuania, Jordan, Canada, Spain, Germany, Japan, France, New Zealand, Australia, Romania, Ireland, India, and Hong Kong. Add in films from several US states including our own Commonwealth of Kentucky and it adds up to a festival that we are proud to offer for your consideration.
We begin our 15th year showcasing the films that have been chosen for you by our fantastic team of judges. We believe you will be thrilled with their selections. And hat’s off to every artist who honored us with a submission; we wish we could include them all.
And, I have some exciting news for you all. We have added a new category to our line up this year. SPORTS!!! Check out the "Sports" film's being shown in the "Slugger" theater this year. We are very excited about this "New Category"
CONGRATULATIONS to all the filmmakers that are part of this year’s lineup- you allow us to travel all over the world from the comfort of our seats.
I’d also like to thank the efforts of those behind the scenes that have worked tirelessly to bring the selected films to the many venues for your viewing pleasure. They are …Michelle Care, Cindy Lou Howard, Chaz Rough, Regina Weber, Dwayne Downing, Brett Bachmann, and Brian Cullinan, all the volunteers and others who prefer to remain anonymous.
We lost a few this past year that were valued contributors to our festival. Don and Carol Hamilton, and Rick Campbell. I would like to dedicate this year’s festival in their honor.
Ingmar Bergman once said, “No form of art goes beyond ordinary consciousness as film does, straight to our emotions, deep into the twilight room of the soul.” So let’s turn out the lights, raise the curtain and make yourself comfortable. Welcome to Louisville’s International Festival of Film 2023!
“I make pictures to tell a story, to tell lies, and to amuse.”
